The main task of this field is to collect information on prevention activities in Hungary according to the recommendations of EMCDDA, and to inform the Hungarian professionals about the new trends, developments and evaluation methods occurring on European level.
Each year we prepare a report to EMCDDA concerning the political priorities, the national drug situation, the prevention interventions, the practice and quality control of prevention and the researches.
The Centres most specific data-collection tool, the Exchange on Drug Demand Reduction Action (EDDRA) also operates on the field of prevention. This online system provides details on a wide range of evaluated prevention, treatment, harm-reduction and criminal justice programmes in the EU. The Centres Evaluation Instruments Bank stores standardised methods and tools (in different languages) used to assess programmes. Our aim is to upload as many programmes and evaluation methods in these databases as possible.
Concerning best practices, EMCDDA’s Best practice portal provides information on the evidence of efficacy in the fields of universal (school, community, family and mass media campaigns) and selective prevention. The Best practice portal was created by EMCDDA with the aim to provide professionals, policymakers and researchers in the areas of drug-related prevention, treatment, harm reduction and social reintegration with tools and standards to improve the quality of interventions and to highlight examples of best practice across Europe.
In order to inform the Hungarian professionals about the European recommendations, we are organising conferences and publishing newsletters and guidelines in Hungarian. In our work we closely cooperate with the National Institute for Drug Prevention, with professionals working in the field of drug prevention and health promotion, and with researchers assessing and evaluating prevention interventions.
