Mission

The Hungarian National Focal Point (NFP) is the national agency of the European drug information network. The NFP collects and processes data and information of other institutions and provides national and international organizations with them to help decision making on the exploration, treatment and solution of the drug problem.

Objectives

The NFP develops the national drug information system which has to be able to supply objective and reliable data to the professional and political decisions, arrangements and programs according to the international standards. The NFP actively assists the national and international policy makers to obtain information on the Hungarian drug situation at one source and in adequate form. It gives methodological support to other institutions to collect, evaluate and disseminate data on drug issues.

Activities

The NFP assesses the national and international information needs on the drug problem and the society's responses to it. If necessary the NFP makes proposals to the Coordination Committee on Drug Affaires (CCDA) to modify the national data collection system. In accordance with the international practice it collects, processes and evaluates information and data generated by other institutions. The NFP provides reports to drug experts, policy makers and to the public for a wide range of utilization.
The NFP takes part in the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction's (EMCDDA) work. It is the member of the Reitox Network of the focal points. In the frame of this network it yearly sends the needed data and reports to the EMCDDA.
The NFP organizes, harmonizes and gives methodological support to the national data collection system on drugs. It proposes research topics on data collection and methodology to process them.
